Founded in 1998, Anthony Wayne Crew Club (AWCC) has more than quadrupled in size since its original nine person team. AWCC includes both men’s and women’s teams and all students in grades 9-12 are eligible to try out. Located in Whitehouse, Ohio, the AWCC team is the only team in Northwest Ohio representing a public high school. Although the AWCC is recognized by Anthony Wayne Board of Education, we are a self-supporting and self-ruling club. Athletes follow the schools policies regarding sportsmanship, behavior and academics as a basis for creating a well-rounded student athletic experience and are able to earn a Varsity Letter. We are funded largely through dues, integral fundraisers arranged by AWCC and community donations.
AWCC is a member of Toledo Rowing Club (TRC) and is recognized by both the U.S. Rowing Association and the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association. Toledo Rowing Club provides AWCC with a place to store their boats and the means to transport them to regattas. TRC is located at International Park in Downtown Toledo allowing athletes to row on “The Mighty Maumee River”.
AWCC is a two season sport (fall and spring). Students can participate in one or both seasons. Athletes compete on average in 5-7 regattas per season at many exciting destinations! Our club offers the athletes family abundant opportunities to get involved in all aspects of the sport.
