About CREWANTHONY WAYNE CREW CLUB BEGINNINGS
AW CREW CLUB Story
Anthony Wayne Crew began its rowing team in 1998. Since its inception, the club has developed a reputation as a competitive rowing team built on hard work, determination and its successes. This 9th-12th-grade men’s and women’s rowing club is one of only two public high school teams in Northwest Ohio. AW Crew competes in sweep rowing and sculling in both the fall and spring seasons at Regattas throughout the greater Midwest.
Anthony Wayne Crew Club is recognized by the Anthony Wayne Board of Education as the representative rowing club for Anthony Wayne Schools. Our athletes follow both the AW school’s policies and AWCC’s internal policies regarding sportsmanship, behavior, and academics as a basis for creating a well-rounded student-athlete. Although we are a club team, our athletes are able to earn a Varsity Letter. Our club is funded through dues, fundraisers, and community donations.
AWCC is a member of the Toledo Rowing Club (TRC) and is recognized by both the U.S. Rowing Association and the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association. The AWCC houses their boats at the TRC facility located at International Park in Downtown Toledo. Practices are run out of the boathouse which allows AWCC athletes to row on the Mighty Maumee River.
Coach Behrman is one of our own with a tremendous love for AW as well as the sport, with connections to the community as well as the school district. Coach Behrman has great knowledge and insight of the club, the success it once experienced and what it took to get that success. Coach’s love, passion and commitment for this team are undeniable.
