Join crewTHINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Thinking of joining?
There is no better time to join one of the best competitive sports around.
You can row in either the Spring Season or the Fall Season, or many of our athletes compete in both. Rowing is a physically demanding sport that requires rigorous training both in season and off-season. If you are an athlete in another sport, Crew is a great way to stay in shape in the off-season. No previous experience is required. To register, visit our registration page for forms and information.
Why Be a Part of Crew?
- Opportunity: Crew provides our student-athletes with opportunities that are hard to find in other sports. Our rowers compete against some of the most prestigious schools from all over the greater mid-west. Several of our boats have competed in regattas from Boston to Pittsburgh to Chattanooga. No previous skills are required and any student interested can be a critical part of the team.
- Collaboration: Crew is comprised of motivated athletes that build not only a team spirit but a family. Our team is composed of both men and women who work and support each other to become the best version of themselves.
- Leadership: There are so many opportunities to build on leadership and lifestyle skills when you join crew. Scholarship opportunities are also available to our rowers. Several rowers from AW have gone on to row at a collegiate level or pursued careers in coaching crew.
- Skills: Rowing is a sport that demands athletes to be in peak physical condition. Our rigorous training schedule produces rowers who are prepared to succeed. It requires both strength and aerobic conditioning, which our rowers practice 5 days a week during the season. Rowing is a life-long activity that you can enjoy even after your academic career.
